I watched the "movie" that sparked the attacks in Lybia and Egypt. It was not only low-budget but the acting, editing and writing was ridiculous. The entire purpose was to humiliate and belittle Muslims and their faith. They obviously knew that the video would cause some to retaliate. This was no concern to them as they feel safe in backwoods, USA. The people that made the video use freedom of speech as a shield and excuse to be assholes. With full knowledge of possible consequences, they spent time & money to make this garbage. Whatever your religious beliefs are, they give you NO RIGHT to mock and insult others. The truth is none of us truly know anything beyond our own reality. Unfortunately people use "faith" as an excuse to do evil in God's name. No one wants their personal faith insulted. Isn't the purpose of any religion to inspire love, not hate? People feel they can justify ANYTHING if they think they are doing it in God's name. They can twist horrible deeds into noble acts in their own mind. There are no limits to the extremes people will go if they believe it's for the greater good. News flash; Islamic extremists truly think they are doing a loving God's will. The terrorists that commit genocide think no differently than a Christian defending Christ by any means necessary. Why must there be so much evil from those who believe they are doing good. It goes both ways so we need to think twice before we point a finger and act harshly against many over the beliefs of a few. Anyone that truly feels close to God should understand that. I am picking no favorites, choosing no sides. Every action has a reaction. If you carelessly kill innocent people to fulfill a personal ideology then I see no way your God could want that. The people that were involved with this "movie" may not have pulled a trigger, but they have blood on their hands as far as I'm concerned.

Love and Baseball
Today the wife and I took her sister to Comerica Park in Detroit to watch the Tigers defeat the St. Louis Cardinals by a final score of 6-3. My wife, Jennifer, and I share a common interest in baseball. We both are loyal Tiger fans, although Jenn is also a Mets fan from her time as a New Yorker.
In the three plus years that we have been together, Jenn and I have made traveling a regular occurrence. Long trips, short trips, far away or just a few hours drive, we take as many trips as time and money allow. It is now a custom for us to attend a baseball game in every city we visit that has a major league team.
Our plan is to visit every stadium in MLB. Living just outside Detroit allows us to attend several areas without going excessively far. In 2011 we traveled to New Jersey for a friend's wedding. Along the way we stayed a few hours at Niagra Falls but could loiter no longer as Fenway Park in Boston awaited us. This was special due to the history of the building. We attended a game at Wrigley Field in Chicago the year before so all of the remaining classics are checked off the list.
After Boston we were able to stop in New York for a day but the Mets and Yankees were out of town (Jenn has been to both). On our way home from the wedding we went slightly out of our way to visit the city of brotherly love and see the Phillies live. We passed through Pittsburgh while Detroit and our pets were missing us. Unfortunately the Pirates were out of town but once again, Jenn has been there too.
Both of us have been to Cleveland to watch the Indians. Jenn's brother lives in Kansas City so the Royals and their majestic fountain was convenient. Along with a Miller brewery tour, Milwuakee has the Brewers and one funky home crib. Milwaukee didn't feel like a real major league game and the humidity plus lack of air in their retractable dome arena was most unpleasant. The aesthetics of the place are very nice but the ambiance is not consistent with that of any other park I have visited.
Next month we will cross Atlanta and the Braves off the list when they welcome the Mets to town. A month after that we head to Minnesota because that's the week in August when the temperature may be a bit over freezing in the twin cities. Long term plans include hitting up multiple parks during the same vacation. The coolest thing about doing all of this is that I get to do it all with my best friend and the love of my life. I'm truly thankful for all the great blessings I have.

Popping My Blog Cherry
My most recent venture in mixed martial arts journalism has led me to writing daily for http://www.thefightnerd.com/ In the past I have enjoyed working for various websites. Several friends have given me opportunities to author features for their sites. The down side is lack of exposure. I have been able to reach a larger audience with my work for mmaweekly.com but often I am limited to event coverage and interviews. The chance to write features and add substance of my own creation for a well-known, reputable website has been something I have longed for.
The task of producing five pieces of work per week has been slightly more than I anticipated. This, coupled with learning the nuances of a new format have been a bit daunting. Time and experience will rectify this yet I have feared that the quality of my work may suffer initially. Some of my best writing has been done very quickly on short notice. When I do have a mental block I can typically overcome it rather swiftly. This has been an asset but I do not want to rely on it in desperation.
I am unaware of how many views my latest columns have received but I am happy to be affilliated with a reputable site. Below I will post links to my most recent articles. I've had good feedback, primarily on the Ken Florian article. KenFlo apparently enjoyed it because he retweeted the story. This is the first time I have used this blog feature so I am unaware if the link feature will work or if copy and paste is necessary. Thank you for reading, take care!
